Support The Feathers at FLATOUT

FLATOUT, the premier immersive fitness race is taking over the iconic Old Billingsgate this autumn for its first ever London event and is delighted to announce its official charity partnership with The Feathers Association.

Taking place from the 25th to the 27th September 2026 inclusive, the collaboration brings together London's fitness community and a historic organisation dedicated to empowering young people.

FLATOUT is for people who want to take on a genuine challenge, combining endurance, strength and community spirit across a course of coached workout zones. The event is open to a wide range of categories, including Team Relays, Elite, Individuals, Pairs, Junior and the newly launched Sidekicks format for parent-and-child teams, meaning there's a way in for almost anyone.

Make your miles matter more...

Anyone wanting to take part can now make their miles matter in two ways:

  • 5% entry discount — register using the unique partnership URL for 5% off your entry fee by clicking the "Enter Here" button or by clicking here; and
  • Direct contribution — every entry booked through that link triggers a £5.00 donation directly to The Feathers Association, helping fund grassroots programmes and positive pathways for young people across the UK.

Looking for your next team challenge?

FLATOUT and The Feathers Association have also allocated a number of complimentary tickets for corporate partners, teams and pairs, including Sidekicks for those who want to race while actively fundraising for the charity. If you are interested in supporting the work of The Feathers Association whilst undertaking a unique challenge please contact the team at flatout@feathers.charity to find out more and apply for a complimentary place.

“By creating fun, accessible events which challenge competitors, FLATOUT aligns with our ethos of providing activities and sports for young people and their communities. We would encourage anyone interested in entering FLATOUT to consider supporting the work of The Feathers Association.”

Our History

Although times have changed, sadly some issues continue to challenge us to this day - almost 90 years on. The continued well-being of young people and wider communities in London is one such issue.

The Feathers Association, originally entitled The Feathers Clubs Association, was founded in 1934 by Mrs Freda Dudley Ward. At that time she was a great friend of the Prince of Wales who in 1936 became King Edward VIII. Some will be aware of his abdication that same year to marry Mrs Wallis Simpson.

Mrs Freda Dudley Ward, back in 1934, set up the Association at the behest of the Prince of Wales, who allowed his crest of the three feathers to be used as the insignia of the Association from which the name of the charity derives.

Mrs Dudley Ward later remarried to become the Marquesa de Casa Maury and remained involved with the Association for nearly 50 years into the 1980s.

Initially formed to aid those suffering in the Depression of the 1930s, the Feathers Association moved into youth and community work after the Second World War and we’ve been supporting communities ever since.

We owe a lot of gratitude to both Mrs Dudley Ward (Marquesa de Casa Maury) and the then Prince of Wales for their inspired action, support and commitment to helping local communities in their time of need.

Often through no fault of their own these communities needed more support than others. Issues like how to feed your children, how to heat your home and how to provide clothing for your children and of course school uniform were impacting the lives back then in the 1930s.

Sadly this still rings true to this day. It’s what makes the Feathers Association still relevant and still needed nearly 90 years on.
