Feathers Welshpool : A Year of Growth and Community

As we look back on the past year, Welshpool Youth Club has much to celebrate. Since opening in May 2024, the club has become a hub of activity, offering young people a space to connect, have fun, and develop new skills. From bustling weekly sessions to exciting trips and a growing slate of programs, the youth club has had an incredible start.

December: A Festive Finale to the Year

December was a highlight of the year, bringing the community together with festive cheer and memorable activities. Members enjoyed thrilling trips to InflataNation in Telford and the Climbing Hut in Shrewsbury, which gave them the opportunity to bond, build confidence, and have fun.

The holiday season wouldn’t be complete without decorations, karaoke, and a Christmas party, all of which added to the joyous atmosphere. A highlight was a Christmas meal hosted by the Inglenook Café, where 24 young people enjoyed a traditional roast dinner with all the trimmings, topped off with a delicious brownie dessert. The club also stayed open over the holidays, providing a safe and welcoming space during the festive break.

Looking Ahead: Ambitious Plans for 2025

As we move into 2025, Welshpool Youth Club is poised for even greater success. Building on the strong foundation of 2024, the club aims to expand its offerings to meet the needs of its growing community.

Planned developments include opening the club every evening and on weekends, creating more opportunities for young people to gather and engage. A table tennis club is in the works, with aspirations to improve facilities and host competitions, thanks to a partnership with Table Tennis Wales. Pool and darts leagues will also add an exciting new dimension to the club’s activities.

The outdoor space will be transformed into a welcoming seating area, enhancing the club’s versatility and appeal. The upgraded kitchen now supports hot drinks and snacks, opening doors for hosting even more community groups and events. Monthly trips are also on the horizon, promising a variety of enriching experiences for members.

Welshpool Youth Club’s success goes beyond its walls. The club continues to engage with the wider community through partnerships, outreach, and support. Initiatives like driving theory sessions, resilience workshops with local schools, and collaboration with organizations like Brooks Cycles and EYST demonstrate the club’s dedication to empowering young people.
