Commemorative Mural Unveiled At Feathers Marylebone
It was a day to remember for The Feathers Association, as we continued our 90th birthday celebrations with the unveiling of a commemorative bridge mural at The Feathers Marylebone.
Joined by distinguished guests from the local community, the mural was proudly unveiled by The Lord Mayor of Westminster, Councilor Robert Rigby, who is also the local representative for Regents Park Ward, in which the club is situated.
At more than 20 meters in length, the striking scale of the installation meant that The Lord Mayor was assisted by guests from Chiltern Railways, Network Rail and councilors from neighbouring wards to pull back the curtain ahead of the reveal; a fitting addition, that perfectly demonstrated the message of community collaboration that drove the project.
Driven by the rich history of our diverse community and working closely with our partners at Chiltern Railways and Network Rail, the artwork depicts the broad range of work undertaken by the Feathers Association, as well as local landmarks, such as Marylebone Station who mark their 125th anniversary this year.
David Jones, CEO Feathers Association added, “We are thrilled to be partnering with Chiltern Railway on this landmark project as part of our 90th anniversary and Chiltern Railways 125th year at Marylebone Station. This collaboration will quite literally act as a gateway to highlighting the importance of spaces like ours in supporting young people’
“Bunny Bread’s installation will serve as a powerful tribute to the impact we’ve had on generations of local youth, and we hope it inspires pride and connection within the community. We are incredibly grateful to Chiltern Railways for their generous support in making this vision a reality.”
A Chiltern Railways spokesperson said,” We are delighted to be supporting the Feathers Association to celebrate their 90th anniversary. Our Community Investment Fund aims to deliver social value in local communities, and there is no better example than the fantastic work undertaken by the Feathers Association.
This project has the added benefit of improving the look and feel of Rossmore Road Bridge for local residents, who have campaigned tirelessly over the years to protect the unique character of Marylebone Station.”
