BNP Paribas Partners with Feathers Association
BNP Paribas has donated £20,000 to local charity, Feathers Association, Marylebone, to fund the upgrade and transformation of its IT suite into a Media Lounge, offering the local community a safe space and access to technology and resources, that they may not have at home, for educational needs, networking and support.
Reopening mid-November the functional, inviting and welcoming space will be available for those regularly using and visiting the Feathers Association. Next year, there are also plans to extend its opening hours to include Sundays, which will further increase the number of individual sessions available to the local community.
This initiative is part of BNP Paribas’ Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) commitment to support their local community and advance social mobility, fostering opportunities for young people, a key demographic served by Feathers Association, Marylebone.
Celebrating its 90th anniversary this year, Feathers’ mission is to provide inclusive and enriching opportunities for children, young people, and families within local community. The Marylebone site opened 50 years ago and has been a necessary cultural hub for all that use the centre, whether for education, sporting or recreational activities. The refurbishment of the Media Lounge is a critical milestone for Feathers Marylebone, offering its young people access to state-of-the-art technology.
The refurbishment includes:
- Higher specification PC’s with upgraded software supporting photo editing, music production, movie making, 3D animation and gaming
- Built in speakers for high quality multimedia use and upgraded webcam function supporting online lessons and zoom sessions
- Redecoration and branding the entire room to create a fresh and inviting atmosphere
- Replacing old computer desks with modern floating desks, designed to maximise comfort and space and enhance accessibility
- Installation of new carpet, programmable lighting and upgrading of all fitted cupboard units within the space, creating better storage solutions and the overall look of the space
The refurbishment has transformed the space into an inviting environment. It is an inclusive and supportive community space available for all ages.
David Jones, CEO Feathers Association, said: “The generous donation from BNP Paribas will make a significant difference to our Marylebone site and the services we provide to our members. The upgraded IT Suite will not only be more accessible but will also create a more welcoming and effective environment for all those who rely on our support, offering increased learning opportunities and a wider range of accessible programmes for our young visitors. We are grateful to BNP Paribas for their continued support of our mission. We’ve worked closely with the team since 2017 and this gift, during our 90th anniversary year, is crucial for our ongoing upgrade and development of the original Feathers site.”
Speaking about the partnership, Tracey Fuller, UK Head of Community Engagement and Impact at BNP Paribas, said: “We are delighted to continue to support Feathers Association with the enhancement of the IT Suite, which plays a critical role in empowering young people and the wider community. At BNP Paribas, we believe in the importance of contributing to the communities around us and ensuring that everyone has access to the resources that they need to succeed. This initiative is just one example of our commitment to sustainability and community engagement.”
